Like you, I am meeting Yasmin for the first via her biography… and she is a girl after my own heart! Motorbikes, India and a padded seat cushion! I have one too… what fun we will have, I look forward to meeting you in person.
In Yasmin’s own words:
“I met Anna on a walking trip in Madeira in 2021, and when she started talking about this challenge my ears pricked up. I told her I was interested, she thought I was a little tipsy when I agreed – and from that point we formed our team ‘Deccan Chuggabug’.
“I love an adventure, and have been to India many times before, back-packing and on classic Enfield motorbikes – I am fully aware that the roads will be lot busier in India than in my 20’s. 😊 Then we were mostly dodging cows, chickens, goats and ox-carts!
“My family roots on my father’s side are from India, and every time I go there, I feel like I am going home. इंडिया
“Of course the whole point of this is to raise money for Safe in Sussex, but hopefully we can have a lot of fun along the way driving the back roads of Goa and Maharashtra. Having spent a lot of time in Goa when younger, it will be really interesting to experience it in off-season and hopefully dodge the monsoon!
“So I have already got my padded seat cushion ready for the 1100kms on bumpy roads, and am looking forward to this with a mix of excitement and trepidation….. and to lashings of sweet lassi too!
“Ganesh (the remover of obstacles) will be somewhere on our rickshaw with us, so bring on those Indian roads and an exciting challenge!”
